Illinois medical cannabis program grows slowly but surely.
Patient numbers released July 6 by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) show 7,900 people are now registered with the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program.
According to IDPH, 61 of those 7,900 registered patients are under 18 years of age. A total of 10,400 individuals applied to become medical cannabis patients since the state began accepting applications for the Medical Cannabis Registry Program on Sept. 2, 2014.
The latest numbers show 900 patients were added to the state’s medical cannabis program between June 1 and July 6, 2016. The state added 800 patients to the program one month earlier, between May 4 and June 1.
The state’s medical cannabis industry saw $2.57 million in total sales during the month of
